Film editor and RIT filmmaker — co-editor of More Than a Vacation.
Marissa Lawton was born in Massachusetts and began creating short-form videos at a young age. In high school, she discovered filmmaking and quickly developed a passion for editing. She later moved to Rochester to study Film at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT).
While at RIT, Marissa created a wide range of film projects and worked for RIT Marketing & Communications, contributing to the RIT Sports Network as both an editor and captionist.
Marissa joined Regret-Free Productions through an advanced editing class, collaborating with Carson Munn to create a nine-minute documentary about students participating in an immersive international experience in the Dominican Republic through RIT’s Global Public Health program.
Following the course, she continued working with John Oliphant to expand that class project into the feature-length documentary More Than a Vacation, which is now screening on the film festival circuit.
After graduating in Spring 2027, Marissa plans to remain in the Rochester area, pursuing a career in sports editing while continuing to collaborate with Regret-Free Productions.
